Laini Saba area of the expansive Kibera constituency on Monday hosted the Sauti Yetu Forum.

The highly consultative forum brought together several local leaders and the citizens in a bid to discuss the issues affecting their lives. Among the local area leaders present during the meeting was Laini saba MCA, David Kitavi and the area ward administrator.

During the meeting, members of the public voiced out their concerns and their wishes. They stated what they would like the local leaders to implement as a priority. Insecurity emerged as the main challenge in the area.

One of the residents, John Ondieki, who spoke during the forum, noted that transacting business till nine in the night posed a great risk as local gangs are emerging to intensify their dirty deals.

Issuing an assurance, Kitavi told the locals that he would seriously take up the matter to the relevant government agencies, specifically the police, to ensure night patrols are intensified to secure the people.

Other issues that surfaced during the meeting had to do with development and job opportunities. The youths were challenged to take up the task of creating employment opportunities than merely waiting to be employed.
