A number of shoe shiners in Kibera are counting losses from their businesses due to lack of customers.
Speaking Monday at his work station in Laini Saba, Titus Ogolla said his greatest worry is that he will not make enough money to meet his daily needs.
“Since this month started, my profits have gone down from Sh900 to between Sh150 and Sh200 a day. Most of my customers have kept off. I believe the tough economic times is the reason why the customers are few. I will not lose hope since I have been in this business for over 10 years now,” said Ogolla.
“Previously I had been making huge profits and returns especially during the rainy season, but these days I receive between one and three clients,” Ogolla added.
