Laiser Hill are the new national boys basketball champions after trouncing defending champions Upper Hill 51-43 points in a hotly contested match played at  State House grounds in Nairobi.

In the ladies category, Kaya Tiwi retained the national title after seeing off St Brigid’s 48-35 points.

Defending champions Upper Hill, targeting their second consecutive national title easily bagged the first quarter 12-4.

A resurgent Laiser Hill side came back fighting and their efforts paid off after winning the second quarter 14-5 to send the match into the breather leading 18-17.

After resumption Laiser Hill bagged the third quarter 17-11 before narrowly winning the fourth quarter 16-15 to register a crucial 51-43 point’s win.

It was sweet revenge for Laiser Hill after losing to Upper Hill in the Metropolitan region games last year.

In the girl’s category Kaya Tiwi were unstoppable easily defeating St Brigid’s 48-35 points to retain the national title.

St Brigid’s bagged the first quarter 16-10 before losing the second quarter 15-06. Kaya Tiwi went on to win the remaining quarters 11-02 and 12-11 respectively.

In hockey, St Cecilia Misikhu were crowned champions after defeating St Joseph’s Kitale 2-1 while Sinyolo finished third with a 3-0 victory over Moi Girls Nairobi.

St Anthony Kitale bagged the boy’s title after defeating Upper Hill high School 3-2.
