The Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) board has relieved the board’s Chief Executive Office (CEO) Eng Pater Aguko Kabok of his duties.
Eng Kabok and other senior staff members have been on compulsory leave on various allegations pending completion of investigations.
Board Chairman Onyango Oloo said they held a special board meeting on Wednesday where the verdict was reached following a report from the investigating committee.
Oloo said the report showed that the Eng Kabok had engaged himself on issues that bordered on corruption and he could no longer hold the position of the CEO.
“The ministry had written interdicting Eng Kabok at a time the report on him prepared by a committee that was formed by the board was ready,” he said.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Thursday, Oloo said nine of the board members voted for his removal while three voted in his favour.
Oloo said he will communicate the verdict of the board meeting to Environment CS Judy Wakhungu for further action.
Meanwhile, Environment Principal Secretary (PS) Richard Lesiyampe in a letter, confirmed that the MD has been interdicted pending the Ministry’s findings and actions.
Lesiyampe says during the interdiction period, Miriam Siwa the LBDA Chief Manager for Planning, Research, Business and Development has been appointed to act in that position.
