The Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA) has procured a search-and-rescue boat for Lake Naivasha.
The authority said the boat will go a long way in boosting disaster-preparedness in the lake.
While receiving the machine, David Kilo, the chairman of Naivasha Boat Owners Association (NBOA), said the vessel was long overdue.
"Lives have been lost around the lake but this could have been avoided if we had strong rescue boat to deal with the emergencies," he told The Standard on Wednesday.
At the same time, Kilo denied reports that the search mission for chopper crash victims at Lake Nakuru has been called off.
"A boat has been dispatched to the lake and is searching its shores daily. Divers from Lake Naivasha and Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) are heading the mission," Kilo said.
The bodies of Mapozi John and Simon Gitau are still missing.
The two, alongside three others, perished in a tragic crash more than three months ago.
