[Photo|Eddy Illah]Equity Bank Group and the Equity Foundation on Friday commissioned the 2018 Student Leadership Programme for the Lake Region Economic Block Counties at the Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu.The programme which has 88 beneficiaries spread across the region, will see the students join Equity Bank for paid internship which will help them raise funds for their University education.The programme also seeks to expose the students to a professional environment which help build their interpersonal skills and integrity as well as creativity and innovation, which are key to future personal growth.Chief guest Cornel Rasanga, the Ggovernor of Siaya in his address stressed that education and training were fundamental to the social transformation as envisaged in the social pillar for Vision 2030.Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr Ochieng Owili, in his address said: "It is only education that makes equal and would give a name to any family with no recognizable backgrounds."Dr James Nyikal, the MP for Seme gave a invigorating talk exalting the virtues of integrity and forthrightness which he summarised as "excellence does not follow money, money follows excellence."The occasion was also attended by Dr. Ogone - Education CeC, Nerry Achar - Lands and Urban Planning CeC, Alice Moraa - Energy and Trade CeC, Kisumu Assembly Majority Leader Kenneth Onyango and a host of MCAs among other guests and parents from across the region.
