Over 300 athletes are expected to participate in the second edition of the Marsabit Lake Turkana Half marathon slated for 4th -6th May this year at Loiyangalani Centre.

This was revealed today during the launch of the marathon in Nairobi.

Marsabit County government has embarked on promoting social cohesion between Turkana and Marsabit county residents who have been fighting because of cattle and camel rustling.

The county government through the Ministry of sports has organized the second edition of the Marsabit Lake Turkana half marathon that will feature three race categories; the 21km race, the 10km and 3km race for children.

The race will take place along the shores of Lake Turkana from Sarima and end in Loiyangalani Centre. 21km race winner for both men and women will pocket 150,000 shillings while the 10km race winners will take home 75,000 shillings.

The price money for children who will emerge winners has not yet been revealed. However, there will be a camel race competition where winners will be feted.

Registration for interested participants for the marathon is open and is free of charge
