Lamu Governor Issa Timamy has ended his two months relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.
The governor who was elected in 2013 on a UDF ticket said he was headed to Musalia Mudavadi’s camp, Amani National Congress (ANC).
Timamy accused a section of Jubilee Party members of disrespecting some leaders.
"I want to belong to a party that respects its members and where they have equal regard for each other. I thank God ANC provides just that,” he said in Lamu on Monday.
"Those who had already started bragging of owning Jubilee Party can now rest easy since I have left their party for them, and I am really glad I did."
The governor ruled out working with either Cord or Jubilee in future.
He said the two political outfits were creating enmity among Kenyans instead of fostering unity.
