Lamu county governor Fahim Twaha has pleaded with the more than 200 striking nurses and clinicians in the county to resume work as he promised a better pay package for them.

The governor said he will employ more medical specialists and deploy them in rural hospitals for quality and service delivery to the residents.

"Talks are undergoing with the nurses' union to solve their problems. I urge them to resume duty as their demands will be met once a consultative meeting with all stakeholders is done," he said. 

Twaha said his administration is committed to ensure the county's health sector is improved by offering proper medical care. 

He promised to allocate more funds to the locals hospitals to improve infrastructure at the facilities and give enough medical equipment.
