Speaking at a voter registration centre on Monday, Amana lauded Joho for his show of bravery and firmness in defending the common mwananchi.

The vocal politician said though the current leadership attempted to bring down Joho just like it did with Timamy in 2014, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Deputy leader has remained unshaken.

"Joho may or may not be delivering as people expected. But we prefer leaders who stand their ground because it is through this that we gauge good leadership," he said.

Amana accused Timamy of not only been timid, but also easily shaken in the quest to defend his people.

He cited a case in which Timamy was arrested following the Mpeketoni killings.

Speaking in an interview with The Star, one of Timamy’s aides defended the governor, saying he is a law abiding leader who does not see any need to fight with the current government.
