A section of residents in Lamu have filed a petition seeking the removal of three MCAs from office.

The residents claim that the three; Seita Rimone, Jane Wanjiku and Festus Kihuha are non-locals.Led by Feisal Miji, the residents said it is unfortunate to nominate MCAs from other parts of the country yet there are locals who qualify to hold the positions. The residents have now threatened to take to the streets to protest over the nominations. They said the nomination of the three has denied residents a chance to take part in the leadership of the county, adding that they do not understand the needs of locals.“They don’t know our issues and we don’t [know] them. How then will they even be able to help and move us forward? A leader ... should be someone who knows us and understands where we are coming from,” said Miji, as quoted by The Star. The three, who are said to hail from Kiambu and Kajiado, are among the 18 Lamu MCAs who were sworn in on September 5.
