Hundreds of residents from Lamu have been forced to flee the area after Al-Shabaab militants killed nine people on Friday night.
Already a curfew has been imposed in the area.
According to reports, 15 armed terrorists rounded up the residents before beheading men only with knives.
According to the nation, a number of residents reported suspicious people in the area but police downplayed their reports.
However, some security bosses in Lamu termed the claims rumours.
“The men were tall and hooded. They were talking in Somali and had all sorts of weapons including guns and machetes. They started shooting randomly at us as we were running,”a resident is quoted by the nation.
