A section of Lamu residents honoured Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers on Mashujaa day.Speaking during the annual ceremony that was held at Mkunguni Square, the locals celebrated the KDF soldiers terming them as their heroes for their efforts to restore peace and security in the county.Residents living in Pandanguo, Milimani, Mangai and other terror-prone areas lauded the soldiers for their efforts to flush out al-Shabaab terrorists.They appreciated the soldiers for their will to risk their lives to fight the militants who raid their villages. “We have a reason to celebrate our soldiers. They fight with the enemy and stop them from reaching here to harm us. Many of them die doing so. There are our heroes,” said Diza as quoted by the Nation.His sentiments were reiterated by Mr Dukicha of Mararani suburb who praised the police for their everyday efforts to curb terrorist attacks in the region.This comes after the government launched the Boni Enclave Campaign to fight al-Shabaab and boost the fight against terrorists.Police reservists were also equipped with modern weapons to help them fight against the al-Shabaab militants.
