Lamu West MP Julius Ndegwa will be defending his seat on a Safina Party of Kenya ticket in the forthcoming general polls.The legislator also confirmed that he will be backing the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.Ndegwa, who was elected on a Kenya National Congress ticket, has pledged to unite residents in his constituency in a bid to transform their lives if given another term in office.Speaking in Mpeketoni on Saturday, Ndegwa said he is sure of re-election if the electorate focuses on his performance record and not political affiliation.The MP said he has played an immense role in bringing peace in the area following the 2014 al-Shabaab terror attack that left more than 60 people dead, adding that he has united residents for the sake of development.“People have remained united under my leadership,” said Ndegwa, as quoted by The Star.The MP also said he looks forward to chairing the Parliamentary Lands committee, which will place him in a better position to fight land injustices in the area.Ndegwa asked residents to elect leaders based on their development records.
