Lamu County has lagged behind in terms of development due to Governor Issa Timamy’s poor leadership, Lamu West MP Julius Ndegwa has claimed.
Speaking at Baharini village on Monday, the legislator said it is unfortunate that Timamy’s administration has run out of ideas to transform the economy of the county yet the Governor wants another term in office.Citing the Sh200 billion coal plant at Kwasasi in Hindi area and the Sh21 billion wind power project, the MP pointed an accusing finger at the county boss for allegedly opposing government projects."The county government of Lamu has been opposed to almost every project proposed by the national government...you wonder what they want for the people," said Ndegwa, as quoted by The Star.He further urged residents to reject leaders without an agenda, arguing that investors have been leaving the county because of poor governance.“The people of Lamu must be wise enough to vote for people with a development agenda," he added. On his part, Governor Timamy has accused his opponents of colluding to frustrate his governance.
