Uasin Gishu County residents had an important day on Monday, after the National Lands Commission joined them at the county social hall for the review on grants and deposition of public land.
The team, which was led by the vice chair of the commission Abigail Mukolwe comprised of Silas Kenoti, Rose Musyoka, Samwel Tororei, Emma Njogu and together with the Gishu County Land Management Board, are expected to be in the county for the next two days for the public hearings.
While speaking to the press after Monday’s hearing, Mukolwe warned those owning public land like schools, hospitals, forests, fire stations and other areas to vacate, before the law catches up with them.
Mukolwe also said that they have been granted permission by chapter fourteen of the constitution to revoke fake titles, while irregular titles will be regularised.
The commission is expected to have a hard task on Tuesday, when the State lodge will present their documents for land clarification from the commission.
The county has been faced with numerous cases of land grabbing, with the latest being the State Lodge case.
The commission is expected to land in the lake side city of Kisumu starting this Thursday.
