Kiambu County deputy governor Gerald Githinji has cautioned Kiambu residents into buying unknown lands from brokers unless approved by the County government.
This comes after residents’ loose huge sum of money by being tricked into buying lands that has not been inspected if it is worth or the title deed is valid for the land.
Githinji said that cases of land fraud has been alarming in Kiambu County and the time has come for the residents to be on the lookout in buying unknown lands or else they risk losing their money.
“Cases of land grabbing and fake land ownership have been on the high in Kiambu and I appeal to the buyers before making a purchase let the land be approved is valid to be sold so as not to risk buying ‘ghost’ land,” said the deputy governor.
The deputy governor who was speaking on Thursday in Thika town expressed his concerns with criminals who fraud lands from the people and said that Kiambu government will be vigilant in such heinous acts.
He urged the buyers to visit the county government for inspection of the land they tend to buy to minimize such cases which has been on rampant with families losing millions of money from the criminals.
He said that in partnership with Kiambu police commandant they have launched manhunt for the most wanted criminals in Kiambu County who have tendencies of selling fake lands to the people of Kiambu.
Githinji said that it is a cartel that trick innocent young entrepreneurs and this time the county government will not relent on the issue.
He has called on Kiambu leaders to join hands and to put a stop to these criminals who are walking free in the area to save the people of Kiambu.
