The National Lands Commission (NLC) chairperson Mohammed Swazuri is now blaming land grabbers for his latest woes in which he has been accused of corruption.
Speaking in Eldoret, Friday, Swazuri claimed graft investigations against him have been orchestrated by cartels behind land grabbing in the country.
He further dismissed reports that Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives found Sh17 million cash during a raid in his house last week.
"I want to make it clear here that no money was found in my house, neither in Kwale nor Nairobi. I was also never jailed last week and I am still the NLC chairman," he said.
"The fight against land grabbing is vicious and you n see how I am now being slaughtered by those cartels," he added.
The NLC chairman however insisted that he will continue fighting the grabbers and ensure public land grabbed is restored for public use.
Swazuri is being investigated after Former journalist Mugo Njeru filed a complaint claiming that he asked him for a bribe to facilitate compensation for his prime land.
Njeru and his wife Edith Wairimu accused Swazuri of demanding a bribe of Sh1.2 million to be compensated for their land, which the government acquired for the standard gauge railway project.
