The tenant who is a student at the University of Eldoret had failed to honour the accord of paying rent for several months and had been on the hideout.

The landlord who owns rental houses in Sogom area in the outskirt of Eldoret town said that the tenant had been on the run and he has been looking for him. He was surprised to find him in an unoccupied room in his house.

"This tenant is really daring as after I locked his room for failing to pay his rent for months, he sneaked into a room in my house which was unlocked since it was not in use," said Mureithi, the landlord of the apartments.

Mureithi fished the student from the room and was to report him to the university for necessary disciplinary. The only identified as Jotham, however, defended himself that his room was locked and had no place to shelter.

He said that he found an unoccupied outside room in the landlord house and decided to shelter there as he looks for money to clear his rent.

"My room was locked when I was really broke and had no place to reside. I found the unoccupied room and resorted to reside there as I source for rent," said apologetic Jotham.

The student's friends, however, intervened as they raised money which cleared the outstanding rent.

"I am very sorry for stalking into one's house without consent. To my friends,  I am very thankfully for standing with me during this moment," said Jotham with a sign of relief.
