A landlord in Garissa has been the talk of the town after he left behind his family and millions to be with a female student.
According to the family, Ahmed Abdi disappeared in August last year leaving behind a number of houses in Garissa Town he owned.
The man was engaged to a lady he had introduced to the family but since he met a female varsity student he disappeared to what the family believes to be Mombasa. They are not able to reach him by phone.
“He was a hardworking man and he had built himself some residential rooms before he disappeared with the female student I think from Garissa University,” noted Ridwan Katow the sister.
The family is worried that their son must have been bewitched by the female student.
“Rumours have it that the student is from Mombasa and I don’t understand how he took him there. We suspect he has started his own family there but what surprises me is he has left his wealth behind,” says the sister Ridwan Katow.
Their brother, however, refutes the claims saying Ahmed is somewhere in town and has been told on several occasions that he has been spotted with a female.
“I fell out with him on the same day he disappeared. We quarreled about the ownership of our father’s properties since he was taking them as his own. Furthermore, he was using it to please female students,” said Bashir Haji.
The family is worried that their brother is bewitched and the female student is fleecing his account.
“We have seen what varsity students are capable of. As long as you have money they will do anything to squander that and we are worried he has been trapped by the lady,” noted Ridwan.
The family hopes they will be reunited with the Ahmed.
Locals in the area say that is not new in the area since rich men were running away from their homes to be with young varsity students in towns.
