Kisumu county residents have asked the landlords to embrace the prepaid meters’ usage for the house electricity.
Speaking to the public at Kisumu county sports ground on Sunday, Kisumu county voice spokesperson Audi Ogada welcomed the residents’ plea on prepaid meters allocations in their residential houses challenging landlords to embrace prepaid meters usage.
According to the residents prepaid meter usage is essential as it allowed the electricity users to view near real-time electricity usage and over time as one managed electricity consumption.
Through installing prepaid meters one would be able to control its bills usage by paying given amount once it gets depleted, one renews for new energy source.
“We challenge our landlords to see prepaid meters are installed in their apartments, it will help locals to plan with the electricity usage and how to remit payments in good time. Through prepaid meter usage, electricity disconnections would be minimal as one once has a sub meter, he or would learn to control it by economizing and remitting payments in good time,” noted Ogada.
Kisumu county Migosi landlords’ representative Maren Ogango also noted that it was essential to install prepaid meters in the residential houses to allow locals plan on their electricity usage.
She further challenged other landlords to embrace prepaid meter installation in their houses.
