Board Chaiman, Ombasa Omweno, told the press in Kisii town that his board had resolved that all transactions on public land in the county should receive approval from his board to avert irregular transactions.

"We have resolved that all transactions on public land in this county must be sanctioned by the board. This is to avoid losing public land to grabbers on the loose in the region,” clarified Omweno.

He confirmed that the board secretary Andrew Rotich had been mandated by the board to do a circular to the survey and lands officers in the county communicating the resolution to enhance the board's discharging of its duties and mandate.

Ombasa identified schools, health facilities, markets and tertiary learning institutions as those whose land was exposed to land grabbing cartels in the region.

He however stated that all those public transactions which were done irregularly will be revoked and have such public land revert back to the public.

"I am making it clear to the public that the board will ensure all those who acquired public land illegally will be made to surrender the same to the public,” stated Omweno.
