Nakuru County lands executive Rachael Maina has been asked to furnish the county assembly with names of illegal beneficiaries of land meant for the Regional Veterinary Centre and County Lab.
The land is at Bondeni Estate and Maina who appeared before the County Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Committee to shed light on alienation of the said parcels of land said that she was aware of illegal transactions. She added that she had documents showing the initial sizes of lands in question.
Committee chairman Mwangi Waithaka said that a visit to the two parcels of land three weeks ago revealed that one acre belonging to the Bondeni County slab had been allocated to private individuals.
“The process of reverting ownership of the two parcels might be tedious because most of the documents are in the hands of the Ministry of Lands which is still under the National Government,” said the Kabazi MCA
He added that Maina should seek the indulgence of the National Lands Commission (NLC) and institute legal proceedings against concerned individuals with a view to repossessing the land in question.
Waithaka said that the lands CEC will be recalled by the committee to shed more light on the issue and find a way out.
