Speaking when she led senior county officials in visiting the school on Monday afternoon, county lands CeC Rachael Maina said that they have already written to the National Land Commission (NLC) over the matter and asked them to quickly move in and stop the private developers who have already subdivided the land and started putting up structures.

She said that the developers have even defied court orders which barred them from developing the disputed land and said that the only solution will be for the NLC to intervene.

“It is an open secret that this land was grabbed and it belongs to the school but the people who grabbed it still have the guts to develop the land even after a court ordered them to stop. We have written to NLC and we hope soon they will be here and sort out this issue just as they sorted out the Langata issue,” said Maina.

Maina said that just as the president ordered that all public schools in Nairobi be given title deeds, Nakuru will also do the same to ensure that all public school lands are protected.

“We want to ensure that all public facilities including schools and hospitals have titles for their lands so that we can protect them from hungry land grabbers,” she said.
