Isiolo International Airport is set to be fully functional by next year.
The Isiolo International Airport has received a Sh 1.7 billion upgrade and is set to be ready by next year.
The airport is expected to transport cargo and passengers along the LAPPSSET corridor project bringing together Kenya, Ethiopia and South Sudan.
The airport which covers 800 acres is equipped with a 1.4 kilimeter runaway for Code C airplanses, an up-to-date passenger terminal and the ability to accommodate over 125,000 passengers every year.
According to Johnny Andersen who is the Kenya Airport Authority Managing Director the airport will be a gateway for farmers to distribute meat products outside the country and domestically as well.
The Isiolo International Airport will also help in distribute miraa thus increasing the business by 35%
Plans to upgrade airports and airstrips in the country by the Kenya Airport Authority are currently underway and will boost tourism, trade and horticulture.
