Teachers across Kisii County have been assured of job security despite the fact that the government has introduced tablets in schools.
According to Kisii Central sub-county education director Mr Charles Nyaribo most teachers in the county had fears over the introduction of e-learning through the Digital Literacy Programme dubbed the laptop project would replace them in class.
Speaking when he visited the embattled Kari primary school on Thursday the official said, the gadgets would greatly improve both the teaching and learning experience in addition to easing teachers’ work.
“Teachers should be happy that now we have learning gadgets so the pupils will grasp more and this time, they are needed more than before” he added.
Nyaribo said that teachers should embrace the programme that nationally targets to equip 1.2 million standards one pupils in 22,000 schools with a laptop as it would help attain national long-term goals.
He encouraged the teachers to ensure that the programme succeeds as the government tries to employ more teachers.
