Lari sub-county police boss Alfred Makoma has put bhang peddlers using children to transport the drug on notice stating that they will be hunted down, arrested and charged in court.
Briefing journalist at Lari town today, Makoma decried high cases of teenagers being used to transport bhang.
He said that his office is investigating several cases where teenagers have been caught with bhang.
Makoma alleged that there is a bhang cartel that is using teenagers to carry and sell drugs within Lari town.
“It has come to our attention that a cartel is using children to carry and sell bhang in Lari town. Investigations have been launched based on the information that we have received so far,” he said.
Makoma said security agencies are trailing several suspects believed to be behind bhang supply in Lari.
He said that the government will not tolerate drug peddling and trafficking.
Makoma asked members of the public to volunteer information that will lead to the arrest of suspects.
Police on patrol along the Lari-Limuru road on Friday nabbed a vehicle that was transporting bhang from Eldoret to Nairobi.
The vehicle was intercepted at Lari town by traffic police but the occupants escaped into the bush.
The value of the bhang was not revealed and police have launched manhunt for the driver of the Probox and its occupants.
