Bodaboda operators in Lari sub-county, Kiambu County have been directed to close business by 11 pm over rising criminal cases.
While issuing the directive on Tuesday, sub-county commissioner Alfred Makoma said that cases of crime have gone up, further insisting that the directive should be followed immediately and anyone who fails to adhere will be arrested and charged in court.
“We have directed that bodaboda operators should not operate after 11pm until further notice, we want to control cases of crime and this can help for now,” said Makoma.
Makoma added that crime cases have gone up, and among the ways to curb them is to enforce such policies.
He asked the operators to cooperate with security officials, as they aim to unravel those behind various criminal syndicates, adding that police will not stop until all criminals are apprehended and taken to court.
The sub-county commissioner also directed chiefs and their assistants to ensure there is peace and order in their respective areas, urging them to ensure the ‘Nyumba Kumi’ security initiative is embraced and followed by residents.
Makoma observed that if the residents embraced Nyumba Kumi initiative, it will go along way in reducing crime to allow them move on with life peacefully.
