Lari police commander, Alfred Makoma, has raised concerns over the rising of defilement cases in the area and vowed to deal with perpetrators.

Briefing the press at his office on Tuesday, Makomo said he has received complaints on the alleged rise in rape cases.

The police boss has since called for police probe into the claims so that action can be taken.

“I have directed investigative officers to investigate claims of rise in rape cases in some parts of the sub county,” said Makoma.

Makoma warned perpetrators of sexual violence saying that the law will deal with them. He further asked parents to monitor the activities of their teenage to avoid search cases.

Makoma noted that many underage girls are being left on their own a move he said makes them vulnerable to rapists.

“Parents and guardians must take their roles seriously and help us tame these practices,” he added.

He also asked parents to report rape and other assault cases purported against their teenage girls to enable the police take immediate action.
