Nation Media Group (NMG) journalist Larry Madowo has reacted to the recent statement by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i conerning the switched off television stations.
On a Facebook post on Wednesday, Madowo reiterated that he is ready to be investigated if journalism in the country is in anyway outlawed.
Madowo pointed out that he was in NTV's newsroom before the station was switched off and he believes the move is a violation of the constitution.
"I was in the control room producing NTV's coverage when we were switched off. I am stunned by the government's justification for this flagrant violation of our constitution. If journalism is now outlawed in Kenya, I am ready to be investigated," posted Madowo.
Madowo's reaction comes after Matiang'i maintained that all the stations switched off will continue being off air until the government is done with an ongoing investigation which involves but is not limited to the stations.
On Tuesday, NTV, Citizen Tv and KTN News were all switched off after they tried to broadcast National Super Alliance (NASA) swearing-in at Uhuru Park.
The media houses defied an earlier call by the government to keep off from broadcasting the event live from Uhuru Park.
The signals of the television stations were switched off by the Comnunications Authority, a government agency.
