Latest statistics indicate a major improvement in the tourism sector since last year as the nation comes to an end of a long political period.

Details on tourism CS Najib Balala's official twitter handle, show a slight growth in population of visitors who toured the country between 2016 and 2017.

Total international arrivals for January to September 2017 by air and sea had a 10.0 percent growth after the numbers rising to 723,174 from 657,438 in 2016,according to Balala's retweet of the ministry of tourism tweet.

"Total international arrivals for January to September 2017 by air and sea closed at 723,174 compared to 657,438 in 2016, illustrating a growth of 10.0%," retweeted Balala.

On the same details,Moi International Airport Mombasa(MIAM),received 66,699 visitors this year,a positive growth of 1.7 percent against last year's 65,600 visitors.

The report further illustrates a record growth in number of visitors who travelled into the country by 11.1percent,when arrivals through the JKIA rose from 589,958 to 655,569 during the same period.

"During the same period, arrivals through JKIA grew by 11.1% to record 655,569 compared to 589,958 in 2016," another retweet read.

The positive improvements give more hopes to the tourism sector even after a long political period nationwide that threatened the industry because of political tension.
