The swearing-in will also happen a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta became a grandfather as his son Jomo and wife Achola welcomed their first born baby girl.

The Kenya police force has already been deployed at the Jacaranda grounds where opposition coalition NASA had announced that they will be holding their memorial service rally for their supporters who died during recent political demonstrations.

The security officers are reportedly sealing off the area, meaning things may turn ugly during the day since NASA had indicated that they will be at the venue.

Elsewhere in Kasarani stadium Kenyans have been trickling in as they await the official inauguration of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Police also had to teargas some crowds that tried to access the Kasarani stadium by force.

The process of the ceremony is up to speed after Deputy President William Ruto was spotted leaving his Karen residence for State House from where he will depart to Kasarani stadium ahead President Uhuru Kenyatta.
