Developments as at Wednesday night

11:57pm: Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui issues a press statement, says the bursting of the dam has caused huge destruction of both life and property.The County Government of Nakuru, Kenya Red Cross and the local leadership are coordinating rescue operations, Kinyanjui said.

11:54pm: It has been confirmed that Solai Boys students are safe. Parents advised to be calm. More rescue teams have also headed to Solai centre which was most affected.

 11:40pm: Ambulances are rushing casualties to Bahati sub-county hospital as well as Nakuru PGH. There are reports six people are dead.

 11:00 pm:  Patel dam in Subukia, Nakuru has broken its banks.Several houses near the dam have reportedly been swept away by the water.Several people have also been injured according to reports on the ground.Police and emergency team at the scene
