The 10 am attack on two buses by Al-Shabaab militants on Friday morning has left many Kenyans in shock.

The attack that was categorised by bullets sprayed on the two buses claimed the lives of six people, while police are yet to confirm the number of injured passengers said Mandera county commissioner Fredrick Shisia.

The injured are currently being treated at Wargadud Health centre.

The two buses involved in the attack are Tawakal bus which was sprayed with bullets between El Wak and Wargadud but the driver managed to speed off. The other bus, e-coach stalled after the hit and most of those who died were in it.

Among the six people who died in the attack was a police reservist, the reservists were escorting the two buses.

According to the Mr Shisia, police have already launched a security operation in the area.

The attacks come in just a day after the US issued a travel advisory to her nationals, in the statement Mandera was cited as one of the terrorist hotspots.
