Turbo sub-county Deputy County Commissioner Gideon Ombongi has blamed law enforcers for the increased sale and consumption of illegal liquor in Turbo constituency.
He said some police are hiding those who selling and taking illegal alcohol after paying some amount.
“I have received credible information from the public that some police officers in my area of jurisdiction are hiding people selling illegal alcohol, I want to give a stern warning to such individuals that they will be arrested, charged and thereafter shown the door,” he said in Eldoret town, Thursday.
“I cannot stay mum while families and the future of our children are being destroyed while some people are hiding them,” he added.
He, however, urged wananchi to report such officers and promised to take stern actions against them.
“For us to win this fight we need concerted efforts between police and residents since we cannot do it alone.We will continue with the crackdown until we end this mess,” noted Ombongi.
He warned bars and restaurants selling alcohol to minors saying they will face the full force of the law.
"It's illegal to sell alcohol to children and if found be sure you will be dealt with accordingly," Ombongi warned.
