Nairobi-based lawyer James Mamboleo has blamed the country's strained economy for failing to create jobs for fresh college and university graduates.
Speaking in Nyamira during a recent function, the lawyer argued that the current high unemployment rate especially among the youth is because of a declining economy, and warned that it is a strategy for bad economic times.
"The country's bad economy is not creating enough jobs and opportunities for the current educated youthful population with diverse skills," he noted.
"And I think this is a recipe for bad economic period in the future," he added.
Mamboleo, who is also eyeing West Mugirango's parliamentary seat, urged recent form four leavers to apply for new lines of trainings like mining, oil and gas, manufacturing and structural engineering as they prepare to join tertiary institutions.
According to the World Bank, Kenya's current unemployment rate among the youth stands at 17.5 percent.
