Renowned Nairobi lawyer, Ahmednasir Abdullahi, has expressed his joy following the nullification of Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua's 2017 election victory.
Abdullahi took to social media to express his happiness following the ruling.
He said he was happy that his client has been served with justice.
"Very happy for my client Hon Wavinya Ndeti for her victory...one of the best cases I prosecuted at the Court of Appeal," wrote the Senior Counsel on his official Twitter page.
Speaking after Friday's ruling, Mutua said he has accepted but does not agree with the outcome.
He said he will appeal against the ruling at the Supreme Court.
"We will still be in office until the Supreme Court rules otherwise. The court didn't cover the issue of validity."It is very clear that the Court of Appeal misunderstood the whole case. They had some findings that are not clear where they got them from- they look like factual errors," Mutua stated.
On her part, Ndeti said she is ready to battle it out with Mutua in a by-election.
The former Kathaini MP said the Machakos residents won’t disappoint her the way they did in the August 8, general elections.
