Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s lawyer Dennis Mosota has said the government might be planning to raid the governor’s home, a day after police raiding prominent businessman Jimi Wanjigi’s Muthaiga home.Addressing journalists on Tuesday, Mosota said a car without registration numbers packed outside the Governor’s residence at Nyali then drove off after about 10 minutes.Mosota has raised concern over the incident, arguing it could be a scheme to plant weapons at Joho’s residence, so that police can later arrest him.“This could be a scheme by security agents to harass the Mombasa Governor just like they did last year,” said Mosota. The lawyer accused the Jubilee administration of targeting National Super Alliance financiers.“We suspect there is a plan by the government through its security agents to victimise our client,” said Mosota. One of the workers at Joho’s residence said none of the occupants of the car came out or spoke to them though the car parked right outside the main gate. However, Coast regional police boss Larry Kieng has dismissed the claims, saying police are not planning to raid Joho’s house. He said no house was raided by police last night in Nyali.“We will only raid where we suspect illegal activities are going on including hiding of dangerous weapons but not anyone’s residence,” said Kieng. On Monday police raided a home suspected to belong to Jimmy Wanjingi in Malindi and recovered five AK 47 riffles and 93 bullets.
