[Photo: Citizen Digital]Former Constitution Implementation Committee (CIC) member and lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo has termed any attempt to postpone or cancel next week's election as 'legitimising the violation of the constitution'.Waiganjo says that Kenyans have no options but to ready themselves for Thursday's exercise as anything beyond that can only plunge the country into a constitutional crisis."Anything that requires us not to have an election, and is not founded on law, is a violation of the Constitution. All our arguments must be based in law however legitimate they are.""Anything outside that can only put us in a constitutional disorder because we will only respect the law when it only seems to favour us," Kamotho told Citizen TV's Opinion Court program on Thursday. The lawyer also said that the crisis at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is as a result of failed leadership. He said that the commission chair Wafula Chebukati has been unable not steer the electoral agency appropriately leading to the serious fallout that has now left the country in a serious crisis.Waiganjo, however, noted that the solution to the wider problem facing the country currently won't be solved through elections and, therefore, a candid dialogue must be initiated immediately after the electoral process is over."The challenge we have now is not about form 34A, 35B or watermarks. Let us be candid enough to address issues surrounding those who lose because they represent a substantive number. In the past, the loser in a presidential poll became Opposition leader, thus maintained their political profile," he said.
