Lawyer Gitobu Imanyara has quit ODM for Maendeleo Chap Chap party. Speaking Monday at his Mariene home after meeting members of the Njuri Ncheke, Imanyara said the elders advised him to make that decision.
Imanyara also announced that he will contest the Imenti central MP seat which is currently held by Gideon Mwiti who will defend the seat as an independent candidate.
Imanyara announced that he had retired from politics after he lost the Meru senator to Kiraitu Murungi in the 2013 with 48,050 votes against Kiraitu's 361,897 votes.
Speaking on why he joined Chap Chap," Its leaders have shown good leadership by campaigning peacefully and its structures are good, unlike other coalitions which are filled with fracas and abuses."
It is a harvest season for Chap Chap as many politicians continue to defect to the party. Some of those that have defected include Meru gubernatorial aspirant Kilemi Mwiria, Embu deputy governor among other aspirants.
