IEBC commissioners at a past event [Photo/The Star] Lawyer James Mamboleo has issued a warning against disbanding IEBC Commissioners. This follows a complaints issued by the National Super Alliance (NASA) asking for the commissioners to be removed.
Mamboleo says the move could affect the Presidential poll re-run ordered by the Supreme Court.
He added that the 60 days allocated to the commission to set up an election re-rerun was not enough time to appoint new commissioners.
Mamboleo stated that the removal of the commissioners would lead to a constitutional crisis therefore stakeholders should instead work towards improving the IEBC.
This comes after the Supreme Court nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta's victory after citing several irregularities.
However, Mamboleo stated that despite the verdict from the court Uhuru Kenyatta is still the President as stipulated in the Constitution.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission plans to release the election schedule next week.
