A Mombasa-based lawyer has said battle for supremacy between the Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Senator Hassan Omar has hampered development efforts in the county.
Mohammed Faki said Mombasa residents have little to smile about because the governor and senator are ever exchanging words.
The lawyer accused the two of fighting over issues that do not matter to the people of Mombasa.
He instead urged them to mobilise county resources in a bid to take the county to the next level.
Faki said Omar has failed in his capacity as senator by moving around the county asking the electorate to rally behind him as he looks forward to oust Joho come 2017.
“The two have been supporting different candidates for the senatorial seat, which is not something they should be doing at the moment,” said Faki.
“Senators should play a watchdog role. However, this should not be construed to mean constantly fighting with the governors,” he added.
