Outspoken Nairobi lawyer Steve Mogaka has lived up to his promises after officially unveiling a bridge that connects Bogichora and Nyamaiya wards.
Area residents had raised the alarm after a school child drowned mid-April only for the county government to delay in responding.
But Mogaka who is also eyeing the West Mugirango parliamentary seat unveiled the much improved bridge and questioned the commitment of the county government.
“The county government is mandated to improve such footbridges but we have seen little response. We should always be proactive to save lives of our people and if they are not willing to do what is right, there are able men and women who can do the job,” he said.
“Sometimes I wonder where the millions of the resources pumped into the county go to. We expect services but it seems these people have diverted the resources to their own pockets. However, that cannot stop us from doing the little we can for the sake of people,” he added.
Mogaka called for accountability and transparency in the management of county resources and also urged MCAs to execute their oversight role responsively.
“Such kind of small issues should be addressed urgently but you can imagine the county isn’t ready. We want to see more accountability and it’s upon MCAs to rise up to the occasion and rectify the matter,” he said.
