Lawyer Mutakha Kangu has laughed off Jubilee's threat to impeach opposition leader Raila Odinga should he win in the upcoming presidential elections.

Speaking in an interview on NTV Monday, the lawyer termed the threat as 'just a threat' saying that the Jubilee Party has no solid basis to establish that a President Raila deserves to be impeached.

''Jubilee's threat is laughable because they have to come up with solid excuses to jump start the debate and they don't have any.For instance, they have to allege that Raila, should he win, has either grossly violated the constitution or has gross misconduct and they don't have such as of now,'' he said.

The lawyer who represented NASA in it's concluded presidential petition also noted that the impeachment procedure is a long one and the opposition leader could have all the time to lead and complete his term before he is axed further saying that Jubilee does not have the super majority in parliament which can smoothen the process.

According to Kangu, Jubilee's numbers are also likely to reduce should Raila clinch the position further crippling the anti-Odinga exercise.

''This is a sluggish exercise that could take years as the President is also most likely use channels available to him to block his impeachment. Also, based on the Kenyan political pattern and behavior, Kenyatta is likely to find himself alone because more lawmakers are likely to shift allegiance to the ruling block which in this case will be NASA,'' he said.
