A Nairobi-based Lawyer has threatened to sue the Registrar of Political Parties over the registration of Jubilee Party.
Ashford Mugwuku spent the better part of Tuesday at the Office of the Registrar to find out if there is any other party bearing the same name.
According to Mugwuku, he registered a party named Jubilee Peoples Party in March 2007 and the registration of another party bearing the name Jubilee will be unlawful.
"Registration or approval of the aforementioned names Jubilee Party, Jubilee Alliance Party or Jubilee Party of Kenya will be in total contravention of the substantive statue, the Constitution and in fundamental breach of the constitutional rights of our membership," read party of the letter to the Registrar of Political parties Lucy Ndung'u.
Mugwuku is the Secretary General of the Jubilee Peoples Party.
This comes at a time when the Jubilee Party which is associated with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto is in the final process before it is officially unveiled in readiness for 2017.
