A court in Eldoret wants a lawyer to testify against his client for allegedly using fake documents to swear an affidavit in a succession case.
The accused, George Murgor is said to have committed the offence with the intention of defrauding the family of Christine Chebor Murgor.Murgor is being accused of forging title deed documents of a 1,000 acre of land valued at Sh400 million. The lawyer, Eric Gumbo, swore the contested documents by his client, and the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) wants him to be a witness in the matter."The affidavit is drawn and filed by Gumbo and Associates and Eric Gumbo appeared in the matter on behalf of the accused. Henry Kenei on behalf of the firm served the affidavits to Philip Murgor. Gumbo is, therefore, the only person who can explain the origin of the forged documents," said the prosecution team.Eldoret Court Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa is expected to make a ruling on the matter on 23 March.
