A Nakuru court has extended a warrant of arrest against lawyer Charles Duke Nyamweya based in Eldoret for failing to appear before court on Tuesday 19th as earlier ordered.
Nyamweya was issued with an arrest warrant last week after failing to appear to take plea on allegations of illegal sale of 100 acre piece of land belonging to former president Daniel Moi.
Nyamweya is said to have received Sh2.5 million on November 17 last year from David Cheruiyot Rono as 10% for the sale of the land.
Rono is said to have deposited the money to Chase Bank account operated by Nyamweya after promising to pay the remaining amount in a span of three months.
Nyamweya, a former magistrate at Eldoret Law courts but now a lawyer is also accused of illegal forgery of a signature for Shamilla Chepkemei on November 16, 2015, in a land sale agreement of plot number NAKURU/OLENGURUONE/KIPTANGICH/1, registered to Ismael Chelang'a.
He failed to appear before court last week last week but was represented by lawyer Haron Kibet who told court that he had lost his mother that morning.
Senior Resident Magistrate Josphat Kalo ordered the accused to appear in person on August 2 where he is expected to produce documents to show he is bereaved.
