The High Court has ruled that lawyer Willie Kimani, his client and their taxi driver who went missing shortly after attending a court session at Mavoko Law Courts were abducted and murdered by police officers.
According to Justice Luka Kimaru who made the ruling on Thursday, the murder of the three by the police was as a result of a complaint filed by lawyer Willy Kimani's client Josephat Mwenda with the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) against a police officer.
Josephat Mwenda had sued an Administration Police for assaulting him and alleged that the police officer was pressuring him to withdraw the lawsuit.
“Lawyers, judges and magistrates must be protected by police in the course of duty which involves protecting of rights of Kenyans provided under the Bill of rights in the Constitution,” Justice Kimaru ruled.
