The Law Society of Kenya has waged a tough battle to oust Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i over controversial shutdown of media during Raila Odinga's mock inauguration.
Through lawyer Daniel Musyoka, LSK wants the super minister to be kicked out over gross violation of the constitution among others.
"He abused his powers and authorities and is individually liable for violating the constitution which he swore to protect," said Musyoka.
For seven days, NTV, KTN News and Citizen TV went off air after the state switched off their transmissions over airing of the controversial oath taking.
In a press conference, Matiang'i defended his actions adding that he was guided by intelligence from security apparatus.
"We shall initiate criminal proceedings to those culpable on the matter. The TV stations ignored our intelligence briefs and we had to shut them down," he said.
So compelling was Matiang'i's directives that Editor's Guild Chairman Linus Kaikai lost his job at NMG following his decision or air the event.
But according to Musyoka, LSK will push for Matiang'i's removal along with his ICT counterpart Joe Mucheru.
