Lawyers have been given until January 31 to submit their application for the Senior Counsel.
In a media advert, the Law Society of Kenya outlined the requirement for applicants pursuant to Rule 7 of the Advocates (Senior Counsel Conferment and Privileges) Rules, 2011.
Those wishing to join the club, one must have 15 years experience as an advocate of the High Court, must be a legal practitioner who undertakes training of junior members in the profession.
They are also required to have argued serious and precedent-setting suits before superior courts or tribunals in Kenya or elsewhere.
An applicant must not have been found guilty of professional misconduct, among other requirements.
Some of the privileges senior counsel enjoy include reserved seats in courts, exclusive robes and priority in dealing with the Judiciary.
